It all comes at once...

I met with one of my professors yesterday to talk about Graduate School. For those who may not know, I graduate in May with my undergrad. Anyway, we were talking about Grad school and I got pretty scared. He talked about knowing my directed are. Oooh ooh great! I know that one! It's American Literature Studies! Wait.. what is this you say? There are like 13 disciplines within American Lit...? So we talked for a bit and I hastily chose Western American Literature because it sounded pretty good and it is actually the kind of stuff I enjoy reading sometimes. He talked about the different school possibilities, including USU, Oregon State, Nebraska State and Minnesota State. However, I have to have my application in by mid December for most of the schools if I want to go in the Fall. I also have to take the GRE, which is offered on December 18th. I'm starting to think that I might put off Grad school for a year... you know, take a year and travel - teach English in Japan or Russia or Europe somewhere... who knows? It's just going to be hard trying to finish out this semester which, let me tell you, is no piece of cake, and worry about studying for and taking the GRE, writing sample essays, which is not my strong point, getting letters of recommendations from professors.... needless to say, my brain has been spinning in circles recently. Not to mention everything else that has been happening. Blah. Somebody just make a decision for me... how's that sound? Applications for my official decision-maker were due yesterday.
